Who We Are

Abstract

Waste paper, as one of the recyclable materials, can be recycled repeatedly in waste paper factories. During the recycling process, the pulp fiber will become shorter and shorter to the extent that it will be too hard to reuse. Moreover, the recycling of cellulosic materials from sewage is environmentally harmful if directly discharged but will be usable if recycled. Paper Transformer can help us realize the former degradation of short pulp fibers and the latter in situ synthesis of bacterial cellulose, forming a composite material which can increase the physical and chemical properties of recycled paper when mixed into the pulp. The excellent performance of our Paper Transformer is far from restricted in the paper-making industry alone but many industries (textile industry, etc) where cellulose plays a role.

Featured Work

Design

Paper Transformer has a finely designed genetic circuit that enables automatic regulation and transformation.

Experiment

See how we can build the circuits step by step and make the system work.

Human Practices

Find out how our Human Practices are driving the project forward.

We’re lucky to have a team of people that not only know what they are capable of, but care about how to work together better, think in terms of synthetic biology, and strive to create a complete and powerful Paper Transformer -- they are all heroes.
