The uOttawa iGEM Team is currently composed of 13 undergraduate students, equipped with biochemistry, biomedical, computer science, biotechnology, mathematics, and chemical engineering backgrounds. Among their many supporters are one principal investigator, one instructor, and one advisor.
A Story of Underdogs
Unlike most teams that receive significant guidance and direction from postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, or even financial institutions, the uOttawa iGEM Team is an independent, and entirely undergraduate, initiative. What we lack in resources and expertise, we make up for with tenacity and creativity. In 2017, the uOttawa team suc- cessfully tested the usage of synthetic guide RNA as transcription modulators, receiving a Silver Medal for their efforts! The 2019 uOttawa iGEM team is hungrier and more determined than ever before, and this year, we have our eyes set on gold!
