Integrated Human Practices

This year’s Integrated Human Practices can be divided into four parts. Firstly, we have widely read sociological literatures on our project, which established the foundation for initially constructing our project. Additionally, we have communicated with professors from Molecular Anthropology, Bioenergy Engineering, Sociology and Public Affairs Management respectively, whose feedbacks helped us to determine the subject of our project and the major direction of the experiment design. What’s more, in terms of the details of the subject, we have made an elaborate design for the questionnaire using social-science research methods, and we have conducted extensive investigations in iGEM Community and public. We attended various exchange meetings in China, and communicated with many teams. According to the activities, we improved the way of displaying the subject. Finally, we have made contributions to the circulation of basic knowledge of SynBio in public, and played a significant role in carrying out science-popularizing activities for teenagers. You can click hereto see more details.

Improve a previous part or project

We improved the project of Perking 2010, especially improved their a significant composite part BBa_K346030. We added several new basic and composite parts to confirm the new system's function. You can click here to see more details.

Model your project

This year we utilized with Process Control in Engineering to systematically analyzed the process from inducer to protein. We divided the process into four modules: the transport process, the induction process, the transcription-translation process, and the feedback process. Through the series connection of different processes, we can get different transfer functions. Finally, the definite mathematical expression can be obtained by inverse Laplace transform.

At the same time, based on the microbial growth and production equations, given the mechanism of action of toxin proteins, we established an ODE model of co-culture under the situation of spite.

You can see all of our models here.

Demonstrate your work

Through the design of the final loop, we demonstrated some of the results we hoped to get when we originally designed the project, which you can find on our Demonstrate page.

Silver Medal

Validated Contribution

We have designed 37 new BioBrick Parts for our project, and all of these parts have been submitted to the Registry. We experimentally validated that our most of new BioBricks worked as expect. The results can be viewed at Registry page.

For more details about our parts, you can visit our contribution page.

Collaborations

Collaboration not only on project suggestions, but also for human practice and helping them as we could. You can click here to see more details.

Human Practices

Based on reasonable social investigation methodology, We conducted several human practice projects around our project and synthetic biology like literature search, interviews and intercollegiate communications. You can click here to see more details.

Bronze Medal

Registration and Jamboree Attendance

We have finished Register form and will attend the Giant Jamboree this October!

Competition Deliverables

We have meet all deliverables on the Competition Deliverables page.

Attributions

We have created a separated page on our wiki showing the attribution of each aspect clearly. You can click here to see more details.

Project Inspiration and Description

We have documented how we were inspired and finally selected our project on the “Project Description” page, and we also introduced how we originally achieved our goals. You can click here for more details.

Characterization

Our project uses part of the previous year, so we chose to characterize the previous BioBrick parts as our contribution in characterization. We completed the quantitative experimental characterization of BBa_K118022, BBa_K2564000 and added the data to the corresponding Biobrick. You can click here for more details.
