Quoc "Jeremy" Tran

Laboratory

Quoc is a 3rd-year student majoring in molecular cell biology. His interest in origin of life chemistry has led him to volunteer in the Fahrenbach group, researching prebiotic RNA synthesis. Outside of university, he aspires to become a video game designer who can make science more accessible and interesting to the public mass.

David Downes

Laboratory

David is a second-year Medical Science student at UNSW. He hopes that by understanding the molecular mechanisms and manufacture of certain pharmacological products, treatments can become more effective and affordable for patients worldwide. When he is not studying at university, you will find him at the gym lifting various stones and logs and competing in the sport of Strongman.

Nicole Fenton

Laboratory & Human Practices

Nicole is working towards completing her third year of an Advanced Science degree majoring in Biotechnology and Molecular and Cell Biology. She enjoys learning about different cellular processes and how they can all work together to allow the functioning of an organism. Nicole hopes to use the manipulation of biological processes to produce products in the field of biotechnology.

Melissa Tran

Laboratory & Human Practices

Melissa is completing the third year of her Advanced Science degree, majoring in Molecular Cell Biology and Psychology. She is interested in the interaction between physical and mental processes and the impact of trauma on thought processing. She hopes to promote the focus of holistic wellbeing through reducing stigma towards treatment-seeking, for both physical and mental health.

Sebastian Porter Zadro

Modelling

Sebastian is in his fourth year of his Advanced Science/Commerce degree, studying Bioinformatics and Economics. He has enjoyed learning maths, synthetic biology, programming and hopes that he will soon be able to apply this knowledge to research that has a positive impact on the world. Research that improves human health and the environment are areas of particular interest to Seb.

Edward Johnson

Human Practices

Edward is a fourth-year Commerce and Advanced science student majoring in finance and biotechnology. His interest lies in cancer treatment and medical biotechnology. Through the combination of his finance and science background, he aims to bridge the funding gap and strengthen the relationship between the finance and science community to bring about a brighter future.

Kevin Huynh

Human Practices & Laboratory

Kevin is a 2nd year Commerce and Advanced Science student. He hopes to incorporate his different backgrounds to create positive change in the world. In particular, he has a strong interest in how Genetic Engineering can be used in Space Colonization and Healthcare. He also plans to knock Bostons Red Sox's off this year with a great iGem project.

Justine Salazar

Wiki & Human Practices

Justine is a third year Biotechnology student who enjoys sci-fi movies and tv shows a little too much. These days, she enjoys learning about the structure, function, and regulation of genes. Maybe one day she could be one of those kickass scientists that could genetically modify a spider to give someone super powers. In the long run, she wants to develop sustainable practices to be implemented in the manufacturing of all sorts of products.
