The process by which hydrogen gas is created in our E. coli requires each individual part in this HGPGC. The FNR enzyme first oxidizes NADPH to NADP+ while reducing the Ferredoxin protein. It then donates the electron to the enzyme Hyd1 hydrogenase, which using two protons obtained from NADPH or glucose decomposition creates H2.

This composite part was assembled using the 3A assembly by creating an intermediate construction of FDX-FNR-Hyd1.
