Team:SCUT China/Collaborations
We know that the ability and ideas of a single team are limited, and the development of science cannot be separated from the friendly exchanges and help among different project teams. To this end, we have worked closely with Hong Kong_CUHK, Fudan and SYSU-Medicine.
The synthetic biology project is not just a science project, but a story of science and society. Our collaboration was not confined to the laboratory, but carried out the experimental part of our project and the Human Practices. We have co-hosted two forum with Hong Kong_CUHK to provide opportunities for synthetic biology researchers from Guangdong, Macau and Hong Kong to exchange and get information from various sectors of the community. Fudan and SYSU-Medicine have in-depth communication with us in terms of experiment and Human practices.

Hong Kong_CUHK Two forums, our reliable partner
Hong Kong_CUHK is our valuable partner, and our collaboration has been going on since 2017. In 2018 and 2019, together with Hong Kong_CUHK, we hosted the first and second sessions of "Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macau synthetic biology development theme forum".
First forum in Hong Kong_CUHK:
On August 15th - 17th, 2018, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the South China University of Technology co-organized the first Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Great Bay Area iGEM Synthetic Biology Development Forum. The forum is a Synthetic biology topic forum which aims to deepen the regional cooperation among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau and promote the development of synthetic biology education. The forum was held in the Chinese University of Hong Kong, which the theme was: “Rewriting the Genetic Codes - the Development of Synthetic Biology in A New Era". During the forum, team presentation, poster sessions, guest talks and debates were carried out. Guest speakers and debate judges include Professor CHAN King Ming, Professor CHENG Hon Ki Christopher, Professor Hong XUE, Professor CHAN Ting Fung, and iGEM Asian Ambassador CHEN Hong. The event itself was a great success, and the bond and connection between the iGEM team of the Greater Bay area of China was stronger, we each understood and appreciated others’ projects in a better manner.

Hong Kong_CUHK Two forums, our reliable partner
We have maintained close collaboration and communication with Hong Kong_CUHK, conducted in-depth exchange of projects, and continued to co-host the second forum in South China University of Technology this year, which we suppose it can provide a platform for synthetic biology researchers in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Great Bay Area.
Second forum in SCUT_China:
During the period of the second forum, 2019.8.13-2019.8.16, synthetic biology researchers gathered in South China University of Technology, with "The Application of Synthetic Biology and Socialization" as the theme. Researchers from Universities--South China University of Technology, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Macau University and Guangdong University of Technology. Experts--Professor Zhu Wei, Mr. Wang Guangyuan, Mr. GUO Xiaolong, Mr. Huang Dafu, Miss Ye Donglei, Mr. Yu Canghai--from the biology field, from the education field, from the information field discussed how to promote synthetic biology and technology to become actual productive force together. During the forum, team presentation, poster sessions, guest talks and panel discussion were carried out. Many wonderful sparks collided out. During this forum, we communicated with various people on the socialization and marketization of the project, and learned about the expectations and suggestions of various people on the socialization and marketization of synthetic biology.
It is important to establish a good communication atmosphere between synthetic biology project teams, and the two successful forums shows the huge ecological operating space in this area. In the future, the further development of the forum will help more emerging synthetic biology researchers like us grow up effectively in such conferences.

Fudan——Multiple communication, laboratory & Human practices
Our friendship with Fudan began with an academic conference. At the meeting up, we introduced each other's projects, showed great interest in each other's projects and actively explored the possibility of collaboration between each other. Finally, we decided to carry out diversified collaboration between the experimental part and the Human practices part.
We provided the strain of E. coli MG1655 with H-NS gene knocked out developed by our our laboratory for Fudan, so as to save its energy in the subsequent experiments. And Fudan has provided us with great help in Human practices, their introductor associate professor Ding Xiaoming fills our social investigation objects of a large gap, and also provides us with views from the fields which associated with our project. For the socialization and marketization of our project, it is a valuable guidance.

We attended the first Eurasian synthetic biology conference. During the meeting up, we learned about the project styles of different teams and the charm of iGEM as a comprehensive competition.

We communicated with the team ZJUT during the summer vacation. After getting to know each other's projects, we made constructive suggestions to each other and discussed the possibility of future cooperation. We had a good time together.

We attended the 6th China synthetic biology exchange conference (CCiC) and won the pJ23102 prize. The recognition of this meeting gives us confidence. At the same time, the experts provided us with many constructive suggestions on modeling, demonstration and so on.
