Education & Engagement

We shared our ideas with the Penn Engineering Community

Penn Pre-Freshman Program

We reached out to the University of Pennsylvania’s pre-freshman engineering program to teach them about the design process and share our project.
The pre-freshman program is a group of incoming engineering freshmen who come to campus a month early to get an introduction to the different aspects of engineering. We met with them and presented our summer experiences with iGEM and the design process. We talked about the accessibility of open source hardware and future applications of microfluidic paper analytical devices (uPADs).

Bioengineering Freshman

We presented to the University of Pennsylvania’s freshman bioengineering class.
We gave a brief overview of the design process and resources at Penn for them to get involved with building their own innovative projects. We explained the process that went into designing, planning, and building our device as well as the applications of increasing accessibility to wax printing. We also spoke about the different synthetic biology applications that can be used in conjunction with wax microfluidics.
