Hi, I’m Zitian Ye, the team leader of 2019 BNDS_China. This year, the focus of my works broadened from human practice and wet lab to team management, project design, mathematical modeling, human practice, and (of course!) wet lab. It’s been already two years since I first read Life Ascending: the Ten Great Innovations of Evolution and became interested in DNA and genetics. During these two years as an iGEMer, my experiences—happiness and distress, knowledge and practice—are invaluable for me.
To infinity and beyond!
Chongye Han:
I’m Charles, a team member of 2018 BNDS China. I am in Grade 12 AP program. I advocated with my
teammates a school fund for scientific research; I worked with the experiment group at the
different labs to learn techniques of synthesis and analysis; I also designed the pamphlets for
the
human practice portion of our project.
Rui Wang:
Aaron, do affirm that I will give up my hair and my brain capacity for iGEM and seek the pleasant amongst researches, experiments, and failures. In the team, I am the paparazzo and the researcher haunting around the laboratory and recording every lovely moment, hoping to explore the happiness of synthetic biology with my teammates through this meaningful and challenging research program.
Ruoxuan Mao:
I’m Rachel, real interested in biology, active in designing logos and postcard images, concerned about Chinese traditional culture, holding on to iGEM, eager to befriend with all my wonderful BNDS teammates, and love to take & make interesting (read: spoofed, but not in the illegal way) photos of them.
Shuxin Xiao:
I am prospective to learn applied mathematics in the undergraduate stage, and I am engaged to
extensively utilize the modeling knowledge and programming skills. I have learned some
algorithm and function about data analysis originally in class, but I never had the chance to
apply them practically. My experience is sparse and all knowledge is literally understood. iGEM
2018 gave me a great chance to incorporate math with other natural science and broaden my
horizon of knowledge comprehension. I took charge of visualization and data analysis,
discovering the density function and variation tendency. Throughout the process, I recognize
how worthy and useful the mathematics is. I am willing to devote myself to the future
researches.
Xiaoyang Hua
I am G11 IB. I was working on math modeling and the construciton of website. I also did some wetlab.
Gar Moss(Instructors)
Teacher in BNDS
Heran Wang(Adviser):
Underdraduate student in University of Edinburgh, who provides us advises and resouces about our project.
Xilin Yang(Adviser):
Senior student of Beijing National Day School and the team leader of BNDS_China 2018, who gives us advise in project selection and experiment design.
Siying Peng(Team Leader):
I am Siying Peng, a grade12 student from BNDS, second year iGEMer and one of the student leaders of this team this year. I organised the team member selection and guided the junior team members to brainstorm projects last year. After we determined to work on carminic acid production, I lead the research of this project and experiment design. Two years of iGEM experience gave me an overview of what synthetic biology is and taught me how to do biological research. It is a great pleasure to work with all BNDS_China team members.
Wanji Li:
Hello! I’m Jimmy from Beijing National Day School at Grade 11. This is the second year for me to participate in iGEM. With the experience from iGEM 2018, I think I am able to do better. This year, I played an important role in the plasmids design which is a crucial sector in our team. As for the future, I hope to become a genetic engineer. Besides, I’m also a short-track speed skater and a foodie. Hope to see you in Giant Jamboree!!!
Liulu Chen:
My name is Peter, a team member of 2019 BNDS_CHINA. Now, I am a Grade10 IB student and luckily engaged in the iGEM when I was in grade 9. During this year, I participated in the project researching, wiki writing, the human practice with Xi'an Lacquer Paint Research Institute and the experiment. Although the procedure is really tough, I still insist on studying the synthetic Biology and trying my best to benefit the whole team. It’s memorable experience for me this year and I will feel chuffed to be an iGEMer.
Xiaoshu Wang:
Hi,my name is Glingna, Wang Xiaoshu. I am a newbie in synthetic biology and mainly responsible for art related tasks in the team. In one year's study, I gained the ability of independent experiments and increased my love for biology (it is fun to learn, but my hair quantity is being threatened...).
Wanheng Wei
A currently G11 student who enjoys making art and likes comics and anime. For me, synthetic Biology is a challenging try and a novel experience. In this team, I’m primarily co-in-charge of art works with Glingna and Rachel.
Wei Ling:
I am William Ling, a grade 11 AP student from Beijing National Day School. Being attracted to the synthetic biology which is the new subject of biology, I joined in this iGEM team. iGEM turns out to be much more fun than I first thought it would be. We get the chance to spend our time with the incredible microorganisms, though they seem to hate me especially since they do not behave well in my experiment turn. Nonetheless, I still have passion for iGEM and I am willing to give up my sleep time and dinner time for it.
