Hardware

We imagined a syringe that can be carried easily and also keep our antidote soluble dry form when it needs to be used the injectable solution can be mixed with antidote with a trigger mechanism from the syringe. We have searched for such syringe already available or not. Finally we have found a company called Ypsomed developing different syringes for similar purposes. So we have incorporated out ideas with the guidance of Ypsomed.

LyoTwist x VENOMXL
We are planning on incorporating the LyoTwist auto-injectors containing VenomXL into the First Aid Kits of venomous snake containing endemic regions. Additionally, the small form factor of the LyoTwist product will allow it to be carried in pockets as well.
The purpose of the dual-chambered cartridge is to house the lyophilized VenomXL (solute) and the sterile saline (solvent) in separate compartments until needed.
In the case of a venomous snake encounter, the Lyotwist auto-injector, housing the dual chambered cartridge, will be used to administer a salinized solution containing the VenomXL protein to inhibit the hemotoxic effects of the venom.

Steps of administration:

1)Twist the middle of the LyoTwist, pushing the main plunger forward, to the Dual Chamber Mixing section allowing for the contents of Chamber 1 (Sterile Saline) to mix with the contents of Chamber 2 (Lypholized VenomXL).
2)Shake the auto-injector side to side to ensure sufficient mixing of the Lypholized VenomXL with Sterile Saline to form a monodose.
3)Inject the needle near the region of the snake bite (in case the region of the snake bite cannot be determined, inject into lateral right thigh).
4)Press on the top of the cap firmly to release the VenomXL containing solution.
