Medal Criteria
Bronze
1.Registration and Giant Jamboree Attendance - DUT_China_B has registered fpr iGEM and will be sending 9 members to the Giant Jamboree in Boston in the upcoming weeks.
2.Competition Deliverables - We have completed our wiki designed a poster and Powerpoint presentation, and filled out the Judging form as well.
3.Attributions - We have thoroughly and properly attributed everything that was done by our team and what was done by others. See our attributions page.
4.Project Inspiration and Description - We have given a concise yet comprehensive description of our project, and showed what inspired our design. Check our description and inspiration.
5.Characterization - Standard Tracks - We have successfully finished characterization of three parts: Part BBa_K2516003, Part BBa_J52008 , and Part BBa_K1159103,and uploaded the experiment data to the corresponding part pages.
Silver
1.Validated Part - We have validated Part BBa_K3061001, Part BBa_K3061002, and Part BBa_K3061008. Please check our experiment page for more in depth work.
2.Collaboration - We have conducted a video conference with Northeast Forestry University(NEFU) to exchange our project ideas and designs online, which not only benefit our project but also promoted theirs. We also participated in the Conference of China iGEMer Community held in Shenzhen in August this year, during which we exchanged idea with other teams and most importantly, we were able to communicate with Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, the team that we had collaborated in depth. What’s more, the collaboration with CU-iGEM team provided us with a novel game that we used in our human practices, which we provided feedback. We also helped team IIT-Madras to translate their video in Chinese. See more in our Human practices.
3.Human Practices - We have explored the importance of our project in a larger context interviewing experts in the field of medical and robots. Through our communication with researchers in Shenyang Institute of automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, we have successfully tackled several problem we encountered during our experiments. See more in our human practices.
Golden
1.Integrated Human Practices - Through our communication with researchers in Shenyang Institute of automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, we have successfully tackled several problem we encountered during our experiments. We also got the affirmation for novelty of our project and the feasibility of medical application. found our future application in t and possible issues we may meet in realistic conditions. 2.Improve a Previous Part or Project - We have improve 2 parts: Part BBa_K1761005 and Part: BBa_K3061005.
3.Model your Project - The protein splitting model provided guidance for the selection of the luciferase cleavage site in the wet experiment. The thermodynamic model, on the other provided guidance for the selection of wet experimental molecular switches. The physical model of microalgae movement explores the physical laws behind the series of interesting movements of microalgae under blue light. It provides a tool to predicate the possible movement pattern of Chlamydomonas in different liquid environment.
4.Demonstration of Your Work - Our demonstration consists of four parts. First, we observed the movement of engineered alga under UV and red light conditions,to prove that intracellular blue light can promote the motility of them. Secondly, we constructed a light switch system and accomplished the molecular validation of it. After that, we optimized our design by replacing Rluc with a luciferace of a smaller size - Nanoluc and validate the design by molecular experiments. Finally, through comparative characterization experiments, we have affirmed our protein splitting model. Check out our demonstration.
