Basic Parts Table

This year our teams created five new basic parts ouyr of our toital collection of 21. We feel our best part is BBa_K3031015 which is a variant of the luxI promoter regulatory sequence from the commonly used Quorum sensing bacterial system. We added a Ferric Uptake Regulator (FUR) sequence into this promoter meaning that when this is used as intended in the LuxR.LuxI system, the FUR sequence can inhibit the regulation of genes under the lux promoter in low iron concentrations. We also created a new part (BBa_K3031018 ) which is a mutated sequence of a previously existing transcription factor part which is activated when in the presence of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS). This part was also experimentally validated and characterized on its part page on the registry. The other basic parts are coding regions associated specifically with our project and have applications in the development of live bacterial vaccine delivery systems.
