Supervisors

Christopher Workman
Chris has been the supervisor for the DTU Biobuilders since the beginning and is always ready to answer any questions, be it about iGEM or science. He has done a lot for our team. We would not be the well-oiled machine we are today if not for him, and we would probably be sitting in a corner crying if it wasn’t for his guidance.

Henrik Toft Simonsen
As the CEO of Mosspiration Biotech IVS & Associate professor at DTU, Henrik is a great supervisor who knows how to motivate us during crunch times. He's able to bring an almost business like aspect to the project which makes the project seem more relevant than ever and we are happy to have him on board.

Kyle Rothschild-Mancinelli
As an iGEM alumnus and PhD student working with fungi, Kyle not only knew when to push us to keep up with the time-schedule, but he always pushed us to factually justify anything we did for our project. His drive and expectation made us want to do better and the experience wouldn't be the same without him.

Wetlab

Jakob Blæsbjerg Hoof (DTU Bioengineering)
Expert on Aspergilli and generously provided us with the Aspergillus niger strain ACTT1015 and the plasmids containing PyrG and the homology regions.

Mycoworks
This San-Francisco-based startup, who produce alternative and sustainable biomaterials using fungi, was also a good source of inspiration for our project.

Jakob Kræmmer Rendsvig (Ph.D. student at DTU Bioengineering)
Most generously provided feedback, plasmids, and guidance throughout the project. His help has been invaluable for our successes.

Fabiano Jares Contesini (DTU Bioengineering)
Provided us with a protease deficient Aspergillus niger strain.

José Luis Martinez Ruiz (DTU Bioengineering)
Helped us with advice on fermentation in bioreactors.

Clara Navarrete Román (Postdoc DTU Bioengineering)
Helped us with using the BioLector.

Drylab

Human practices

Kenneth Bruno (Principal scientist at Zymergen)
Provided crucial feedback at the start of the project about the choice of aspergillus strain and methods to determine promoter strength. Furthermore, he provided information about the needs of a promoter library in industry.

Grayson Wawrzyn (Scientist at Zymergen)
Gave us important feedback to the project.

Benjamin Schwetz (Information scientist at Novozymes)
Invited us to visit Novozymes’ facilities in Lyngby and arranged talks with different departments to learn more about the applications of enzymes.

Outreach

Camilla Lykke Hansen (DTU communication)
Helped us organize our stand at Science Expo.

Anne Ringgaard Jørgensen (DTU Project coordination)
Helped us acquire DTU branded t-shirts.

Economy

Malene Bonné Meyer (DTU Bioengineering)
Help with budgeting and fundraising.

Chen Chou Hellfach Hansen (DTU Project economy coordinator)
Help with budgeting and fundraising.

Elisabeth Boelskifte (DTU Bioengineering)
