About Us
This is our team: worldshaper-shanghai, a team of thirteen enthusiastic Chinese teenagers all studying in high school. There are three of us living in the U.S. and ten of us come from different cities in China. What combines us with each other is the biology. Loving synthetic biology is the same feature among us, and the other specialities complement us to become a great team.

PhD in Earth Science and Materials Science from University of Toronto, co-founder and acadmic director of Worldshaper Fellows Program. Recently, reaseach interests are in biomaterials and synthetic biology, as well as youth STEM education.

Secondary PI of worldshaper-shanghai , biological instructor of Worldshaper Academy. She graduated from Chinese Academy of Forestry and good at molecular biology especially in stress resistance functional genomics . Now She is responsible for iGEM project design and project guidance.

Haoyan Chen, PhD,MD Received PhD degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. Principal Investigator in State Key Laboratory of Oncogene and related Genes, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Current research interest is cancer epigenetics and genomics.
Jie Hong

Dr. Jie Hong, works as Principal Investigator in Renji Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and Shanghai Institute of Digestive Disease, State Key Laboratory for Oncogenes and Related Genes. The research project of her group mainly focuses on digestive disease research. In recent years, Dr. Hong is devoted to study the colorectal cancer / adenoma recurrence and gastric carcinogenesis molecular mechanisms by means of biochemical and molecular biology analysis and high-throughput sequencing technology. She has authored and co-authored more than 18 papers including Cell, Cancer Discovery, Nature Communications, Cancer Res and Clin Cancer Res.

Baoqin Xuan, PhD, Received Ph.D. degree from Fudan University. Researcher in State Key Laboratory of Oncogene and related Genes, Shanghai Cancer Institute. Mainly focused on cancer epigenetics research.

Hi, my name is Songlin Cai. I’m from LiaoNing. As the leader of our team, I’m charge of experiments and propagandas. All my teammates are wonderful, and it’s been a pleasure working with them. It is my sincere hope that people would like our programs and we will end up with outstanding results. By the way, I enjoy watching basketball games and singing. I am eager to learn about athletic injuries in iGEM 2019.

In our Worldshaper-Shanghai group, I am the leader of human practices, logistics, and computer and mathematic modeling. What’s more, I am a student who wants to devote myself to biology and mathematics.

Here’s Judy, from No.2 high school of East China Normal University, Shanghai, China. I am 16 years old, playing the role as one member of the experiment team and writer of the team. I also offer assistance in human practice. As it is my first time participating in iGem with other Chinese high school students, I would like to do my best helping our team to achieve success. Referring to me, I have played violin since I was in elementary school. I benefit a lot from this precious experience and I would like to utilize them during the competition. I am also quite interested in biology, hoping that through this precious experience I can gain as much knowledge as possible. Our team focuses on the early diagnosis of gout, it is a meaningful and practical topic, hope you can pay attention to us.

Ph.D. major in Veterinary medcine, College of Zhejiang University She has been engaged in the relevant research of traditional Chinese herbal medicine, including the immunomodulators for veterinary vaccine and mucosal vaccine immune adjuvant, development of anti-tumor vaccine, and research on the mechanism of tumor chemical prevention. As an advisor of our team, she has provided a lot of help in our project design and brainstorming.
