Since our Institution doesn’t impart a course on synthetic biology, we saw iGEM as an exciting opportunity to be part of this incredible community and to learn how to use biology as a tool to improve our world. Our team was formed in February and by March we were brainstorming ideas. In May, we settled on V-TION as our project and by June we were working in the lab. After several months of hard work, we characterized parts in the Registry and developed five new ones of our own design. We reached over 80,000 people with several activities for Public Engagement, and developed an environmentally and socially conscious project based on the feedback and necessities of the stakeholders involved and impacted by Verticillium wilt.

However, none of this would had been possible without the help of several people who we would like to thank.

We infinitely thank all the people who accompanied us during this adventure, who were supporting us in one way or another, encouraging us daily to take this project forward.

We would like to thank Alberto Aguilar for letting us to represent our Institution and providing us the facilities to carry out our project.

We would like to thank Andrea Regina Castañeda for letting us to be part of LiFE and helping us with fundraising activities.

We would like to thank our families for their unconditional support, picking us up late from school, funding our trip, and always believing in us.

And last but not least, we would like to thank our friends for encouraging us, enduring our stressful moments, buying food and stuff we sold to get funds, and being there for us no matter what.
