The 2019 HiGEM Team would like to acknowledge the courteous contributions and support from numerous people – Big thanks to all mentioned below!
General and Lab Support
We would like to thank the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) for generously providing funding and general support to the iGEM team this year! We also would like to thank SEAS for the Synthetic Biology Bootcamp over Winter Break.
Special thanks to our mentor, Dr. Timothy Chang, Kathleen Buhl, the Harvard Medical School Silver Lab, and the Harvard Medical School Paulsson Lab for all the laboratory training, resources, and guidance throughout the summer, as well as Jérôme Zürcher and Priya Jani for troubleshooting and presentation advice.
We would also like to thank the Silver Lab for the NFAT-dependent reporter construct which was useful for our system (NFAT promoter upstream of an mScarlet fluorescent protein gene).
We would like to thank Scott Luro and Carlos Sanchez from the Paulsson Lab for allowing us to use the microfluidics chamber to test and troubleshoot our system.
Administrative Support

Project Idea Guidance
Again, we thank our mentor, Dr. Chang, for asking all the hard questions in the development of our project idea and encouraging our curiosity and science-mindedness. He helped us translate our goals into actionable experiments that would yield useful data.
We would like to give credit to the 2016 Shenzhen team, from which we gained inspiration for one of the aspects of our project, specifically, the Piezo1 system.
Human Practices Support
Lastly, we would like to thank Dr. Elena Aikawa and Dr. Mark Blaser for using their expertise to give us feedback on our project idea and further insight into its real world applications.
