PI's Words
I am proud to be the PI of the iGEM team BSC_United. For the past decade, I have worked in the emerging field of synthetic biology. In addition to publish more than 20 articles on this topic, I have edited a monograph entitled Systems Biology and Synthetic Biology (John Wiley & Sons, Inc. In April, 2009, http://as.wiley.com/WileyCDA/WileyTitle/productCd-0471767786.html, ISBN: 9780471767786). The book has been used by many graduate programs as textbook or reference book by several universities in the US and Europe. I have also served as the specialty chief editor of Synthetic Biology for the journal of Frontiers in Bioengineering, and organized an international conference on Synthetic biology in 2014. Most favorable thing is to go with my team to Boston for the iGEM competition which I have done for more than one time.
This year I will come back with younger team members: those teen students in high schools which are scattered to different cities in China and overseas. Synthetic biology is a new frontier for the next generation of life scientists and bioengineers just like them. They are bounded to be crowned in iGEM and to be the winners for the future. So I would tell them to always remember that: “you are awesome and there is no one on the planet like you. Never ever let anyone make you believe otherwise”.
