Description: DTU will host the 7th Annual BioBrick Tutorial April 12-14th. The tutorial is a combination of hands-on BioBrick assembly workshop in the lab, presentations about the iGEM process, and a chance to get to know the other Nordic teams.

iGEM Shanghai Regional Conference

Description: The NYU Shanghai team will be hosting the iGEM Shanghai Regional Conference. iGEM Spring Festival

Description: Kick off the iGEM season with a different kind of meetup! We invite you to Bonn to celebrate the iGEM values with us in a festival-style meetup, attend exciting talks from research scientists, present your teams in a fun way, share ideas and receive feedback, visit the famous Rhein in Flammen and Panama Opening festivals in Bonn with an incredible firework show, visit the Cherry Blossom Avenue, and attend various workshops. The meetup is an initiative started by European Ambassador Nemanja and our team with goals to connect iGEMers with a fun event, include After iGEM with a separate workshop, and promote and recruit potential new teams. Southern China Regional Meeting
May

Location: Shenzhen University

Itinerary: 9:30AM to 5:20PM

Description: In this event, many iGEM teams are invited and will take turns to talk about their own projects, progress they have made and difficulties they have met. During this period, other teams can ask questions or help solve their problems to achieve the purpose of learning and communication among teams.

The Meetup will start at 9:30 a.m. and end at 5:20 p.m.. Eight teams will be on the stage to give speeches. Meanwhile, we have invited Dorothy, the Asian iGEM ambassador, to give us a lecture on how to prepare the competition, which can help us improve and further our project.

Nordic iGEM Conference (NiC)

Description: The Nordic iGEM Conference (NiC) is a three-day meetup for the Nordic iGEM teams. This year the event is hosted by University of Copenhagen. There will be workshops, a mini-jamboree, an After iGEM panel discussion and social activities to strengthen the ties between Nordic iGEM teams.

The Third iGEM Nanjing Regional Meetup

Description: We will present our team UPNAvarra_Spain, talk about what synthetic biology can do for our society and show a documentary called Genesis 2.0..

The film observes the harsh and dangerous life of so-called mammoth hunters on the remote New Siberian Islands in the far north of Siberia. The resurrection of the mammoth is a first track and manifestation of the next great technological revolution, synthetic biology.

Itinerary: A round-table discussion session in the morning at the university and activities in the afternoon at the St Cyr Lake

iGEM Meetup - Beijing District

Location: Zhonghang Development Mansion, Beijing, China

Description: As each team are preparing for the 2019 iGEM Jamboree, our team, iBowu-China, would like to invite all the participating iGEMers to join us on July 3rd, 2019, at Zhonghang Development Mansion (北京中航发展大厦A座), to celebrate the hard work that we’ve done. This is going to be the greatest opportunity for all the teams at and near Beijing to gather up and share their thoughts, worries, experiences, ideas, etc. No matter if you’re stuck midway on your project or having the best experience of your life, this meeting will be the chance to make your inspiring project even better.

At the seminar, each team will be sharing their program development, as well as their project ideas; you will be able to find help and resolutions to your challenges from all the supportive iGEMers attending the meeting, most importantly, all of us will be able to learn from each other as a community.

The time arrangement will be the following:

  • 10:00-10:40: First team project presentation and Q&A

Preparation list and timing for each team: (If your team is prepared, you can use this as a chance to do a mock jamboree). Each team will get 25mins of presentation time and 15 mins for Q&A session and judge’s feedbacks. Team presentations should include the following elements:

Greek iGEM Meetup

Description: iGEM Thessaly is really happy to host the first iGEM Greek meetup at the city of Larissa. The main idea is for the Greek teams to come together and exchange ideas, knowledge, and visions. There will be exciting talks by great scientists in the field of Synthetic Biology, presentations of the team’s projects as well as interactive activities that will give us the opportunity to get to know our fellow iGEM participants.

Midwest Meetup

Description: We will be hosting the Midwest Meetup at the Michigan State University. It will take place on July 13th from 11am – 5pm. Danish iGEM Weekend

Description: Denmark has seen the Biobrick Tutorial and the Nordic iGEM Conference, both revolving around essential parts of the iGEM competition. This meet-up for the Danish teams will focus on more meta-topics like teambuilding and communication training, but we will also host a wiki-workshop. We hope the weekend ends with a stronger national collaboration between our teams.

Description: Team Korea_HS is excited to host the first iGEM Korea Meetup in Seoul! During this meetup, three high school teams from Korea will come together to share their project ideas, current progress, and any challenges they have met. The goal of this session is not only to exchange insights in synthetic biology but also to receive feedback from different perspectives and gain creative solutions for difficulties that are faced by each team.

The Second Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Great Bay Area iGEM Synthetic Biology Development Forum

Description: The event will invite the domestic synthetic biology academic great authorities to give lectures and explore the most cutting-edge synthetic biology theories and technologies. Description: This year the Washington iGEM team, in collaboration with SoundBio iGEM and Tacoma RAINmakers, will be hosting the 2nd annual Pacific Northwest iGEM Meetup in Seattle! 6th Conference of China iGEMer Community

Description: Conference of China iGEMer Community (CCiC), is a national-wide meet up launched by several Chinese iGEM participating universities. It is the biggest synthetic biology conference in China. Over last five years, there were approximately 200 teams and 2000 people participated. CCiC is now more than a simple iGEM meet up, but a national-wide academic conference for all junior synbio lovers with vitality, and a platform for the senior synbio leaders, to pass on their passion to the next generation. Teams can do presentations and have poster sessions, we also prepared lots of workshops and lectures to link iGEMers to the frontier of synthetic biology.

iGEM x Sustainable Development Goals Online Conference
September

Dates: Submit the form by July 15th. The conference will take place in early September (tentative).

Itinerary: We will most likely be starting at 8AM to 10AM (GMT+8)

Description: Our discussion will be centered around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a set of 17 goals that the United Nations (UN) has set to achieve by 2030. MUN Impact, a Model United Nations (MUN) initiative, encourages high school students to use the SDGs as a framework to create projects to tackle global issues, such as taking action against climate change. We hope to raise awareness of the SDGs. Through this conference, we will help each other align our projects with the SDGs and take steps to turn our projects into reality!
