Meetup events are happening around the world. Teams share ideas, help each other, and spend time with their fellow iGEMers! There is the opportunity to have a representative from Headquarters come to your event!

BioBrick Tutorial

Location: Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Lyngby, Denmark

Description: DTU will host the 7th Annual BioBrick Tutorial April 12-14th. The tutorial is a combination of hands-on BioBrick assembly workshop in the lab, presentations about the iGEM process, and a chance to get to know the other Nordic teams.

iGEM Shanghai Regional Conference

Description: The NYU Shanghai team will be hosting the iGEM Shanghai Regional Conference. Local iGEM teams are invited to share their previous competition research, help each other troubleshoot for future experiments, and learn about ways to continue their passion of synthetic biology beyond the competition for the 2019 season.

iGEM Spring Festival

Description: Kick off the iGEM season with a different kind of meetup! We invite you to Bonn to celebrate the iGEM values with us in a festival-style meetup, attend exciting talks from research scientists, present your teams in a fun way, share ideas and receive feedback, visit the famous Rhein in Flammen and Panama Opening festivals in Bonn with an incredible firework show, visit the Cherry Blossom Avenue, and attend various workshops. The meetup is an initiative started by European Ambassador Nemanja and our team with goals to connect iGEMers with a fun event, include After iGEM with a separate workshop, and promote and recruit potential new teams. Southern China Regional Meeting
May

Location: Shenzhen University

Itinerary: 9:30AM to 5:20PM

Description: In this event, many iGEM teams are invited and will take turns to talk about their own projects, progress they have made and difficulties they have met. During this period, other teams can ask questions or help solve their problems to achieve the purpose of learning and communication among teams.

The Meetup will start at 9:30 a.m. and end at 5:20 p.m.. Eight teams will be on the stage to give speeches. Meanwhile, we have invited Dorothy, the Asian iGEM ambassador, to give us a lecture on how to prepare the competition, which can help us improve and further our project.

Nordic iGEM Conference (NiC)

Description: The Nordic iGEM Conference (NiC) is a three-day meetup for the Nordic iGEM teams. This year the event is hosted by University of Copenhagen. There will be workshops, a mini-jamboree, an After iGEM panel discussion and social activities to strengthen the ties between Nordic iGEM teams.

iGEM Collaboration Meet Up

The Third iGEM Nanjing Regional Meetup

iGEM x Genesis2.0

Location: Filmoteca de Navarra, Pamplona, Spain

Description: We will present our team UPNAvarra_Spain, talk about what synthetic biology can do for our society and show a documentary called Genesis 2.0..

The film observes the harsh and dangerous life of so-called mammoth hunters on the remote New Siberian Islands in the far north of Siberia. The resurrection of the mammoth is a first track and manifestation of the next great technological revolution, synthetic biology.

The US_AFRL_CarrollHS Meetup

Description: A chance to discuss iGEM projects, meet other teams, and get excited for iGEM!!!

The 444 Building is used as a creative and collaborative center for AFRL and other researchers. It stands in the heart of the innovation district in Downtown Dayton. Just down the street is Wilbur and Orville Wright’s bicycle shop where they initially designed the Wright Flyer!

French iGEM Meetup

Itinerary: A round-table discussion session in the morning at the university and activities in the afternoon at the St Cyr Lake

Description: iGEM Poitiers team organize for the first time a French Meetup. It will occur during the whole day. German iGEM Meetup

Location: Heinrich Heine University Duesseldorf

Description: The German Meetup will be hosted in Düsseldorf, Germany from July 5 - 7, 2019. There will be exciting talks, a panel discussion and poster presentations, where we invite you to present and discuss your team’s project. In addition, there will be many opportunities to socialize with your fellow iGEM participants.

iGEM Meetup - Beijing District

Location: Zhonghang Development Mansion, Beijing, China

Description: As each team are preparing for the 2019 iGEM Jamboree, our team, iBowu-China, would like to invite all the participating iGEMers to join us on July 3rd, 2019, at Zhonghang Development Mansion (北京中航发展大厦A座), to celebrate the hard work that we’ve done. This is going to be the greatest opportunity for all the teams at and near Beijing to gather up and share their thoughts, worries, experiences, ideas, etc. No matter if you’re stuck midway on your project or having the best experience of your life, this meeting will be the chance to make your inspiring project even better.

At the seminar, each team will be sharing their program development, as well as their project ideas; you will be able to find help and resolutions to your challenges from all the supportive iGEMers attending the meeting, most importantly, all of us will be able to learn from each other as a community.

The time arrangement will be the following:

  • 9:00-9:30: Arrival window for teams
  • 9:30-10:00: Opening ceremony
  • 10:00-10:40: First team project presentation and Q&A
  • 10:40-11:20: Second team project presentation and Q&A
  • 11:20-12:00: Third team project presentation and Q&A
  • 12:00-13:20: Lunch break
  • 13:20-15:20: Project presentation
  • 15:20-16:00: Presentations from four previous iGEMers
  • 16:00-16:30: Networking session
  • 16:30-16:50: Closing ceremony

Preparation list and timing for each team: (If your team is prepared, you can use this as a chance to do a mock jamboree). Each team will get 25mins of presentation time and 15 mins for Q&A session and judge’s feedbacks. Team presentations should include the following elements:

  • Future plans
  • Group aims
  • Experiments practices/design
  • Human practices and progress

Greek iGEM Meetup
July

Dates: July 12-14

Location: University of Thessaly, Greece

Description: iGEM Thessaly is really happy to host the first iGEM Greek meetup at the city of Larissa. The main idea is for the Greek teams to come together and exchange ideas, knowledge, and visions. There will be exciting talks by great scientists in the field of Synthetic Biology, presentations of the team’s projects as well as interactive activities that will give us the opportunity to get to know our fellow iGEM participants.

Let’s not forget that Larissa is known for its amazing tsipouro, so it’s also our obligation to enjoy it with our fellow Greek iGEMers.

Midwest Meetup

Location: Michigan State University

Description: We will be hosting the Midwest Meetup at the Michigan State University. It will take place on July 13th from 11am – 5pm. Check in is in MSU’s Molecular Plant Sciences Building (1066 Bogue Street, East Lansing, MI 48824). At the Meetup we will be playing icebreaker games and having a scavenger hunt as well as a speaker and presentations from each group about their project. iGEM ChongQing Meetup

Description: BM_AMU will hold the first iGEM ChongQing Meetup. We invite six teams from all over the country, including CSU_CHINA, NUDT_CHINA, OUC-China, SDU-CHINA, SMMU-China and UCAS-China, to deliver speeches and poster presentations. Pacific Northwest Meetup

Description: Conference of China iGEMer Community (CCiC), is a national-wide meet up launched by several Chinese iGEM participating universities. It is the biggest synthetic biology conference in China. Over last five years, there were approximately 200 teams and 2000 people participated. CCiC is now more than a simple iGEM meet up, but a national-wide academic conference for all junior synbio lovers with vitality, and a platform for the senior synbio leaders, to pass on their passion to the next generation. Teams can do presentations and have poster sessions, we also prepared lots of workshops and lectures to link iGEMers to the frontier of synthetic biology.

Description: This year's meetup will consist in a reunion of all Latin American iGEM teams with the main objective of getting to know each others projects. It will consist of two exclusive workshops, specifically designed to help iGEM teams solve any doubts they have with their projects and/or learn new useful skills along with a poster presentation where each team will receive feedback from a professional in their field. At the end, there will be a group photograph, prize for the best poster of the day and a networking gathering where we can all get to know each other and have a good time.

iGEM x Sustainable Development Goals Online Conference
September

Dates: Submit the form by July 15th. The conference will take place in early September (tentative).

Itinerary: We will most likely be starting at 8AM to 10AM (GMT+8)

Description: Our discussion will be centered around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a set of 17 goals that the United Nations (UN) has set to achieve by 2030. MUN Impact, a Model United Nations (MUN) initiative, encourages high school students to use the SDGs as a framework to create projects to tackle global issues, such as taking action against climate change. We hope to raise awareness of the SDGs. Through this conference, we will help each other align our projects with the SDGs and take steps to turn our projects into reality!

3rd Mediterranean meetup

Israel's Mini iGEM Jamboree

Description: On September 19th, 2019 the Israeli mini Jamboree will be taking place in Tel Aviv University, Israel. The attending teams would have the opportunity to practice their presentations for the Giant Jamboree.
