Registration Requirements

2.1 Team Kind

In iGEM 2019, teams will register as one of three team "kinds", and each kind will have different registration requirements. The three team kinds are:

Collegiate:
Teams consist primarily of collegiate students. You may also have postgraduate students and/or high school students on the team.

High School:
Teams consist of only high school students and students who will graduate high school in 2019. High School teams compete with other High School teams in the High School Track and Section.

Please see 2.4 below for details about additional High School Consent Form Requirements.

Community Lab:
Teams consist of members of a community lab. This can include anyone. Community Lab teams compete with Collegiate teams in the Traditional and Special Tracks and in the Undergraduate and Overgraduate Sections based on the team members' ages.

Please see 2.4 below for details about additional Community Lab Registration Requirements.

2.2 Team Affiliation

Several schools may combine to form a team, and one school may have several teams. For example, it is normal for one school to have both software and wetlab teams.

2.3 Fees

Each team pays a team registration fee, which provides the team with a team wiki, associated materials (including the 2019 Distribution Kit) and support, one presentation slot at the Giant Jamboree, and one poster location at the Giant Jamboree. Additionally, each individual who attends the Giant Jamboree must pay an attendance fee to gain entrance.

Team registration fees for iGEM 2019 are:

Regular registration: $5000 USD

Late registration: $5,500 USD

Multiple team discount: a discount of $1000 USD

Detailed instructions for submitting your team registration fee are at the bottom of the page.

Giant Jamboree attendance fees for iGEM 2019 are:

Giant Jamboree attendance: $745 USD per team member (PI, instructor, advisor, student)

Title and Abstract

Your Title and Abstract are the first items your judges will see when they begin the judging process in October. As a result, these items should be accurate and honestly represent the work your team completed by September 13, 2019.

The title and abstract will also be included in the Jamboree program booklet, which will be published online and handed out at the Giant Jamboree. The program will include all team projects and abstracts and will be a way to communicate what each team's project is about.

Note

Project titles and abstracts must be submitted by the freeze date to ensure they appear in the program booklet! No extensions will be provided as this is a Freeze Date. Please plan accordingly.
