Since November 2018, we started meeting up at someone’s house or in a coffee shop. We started by defining the areas we were interested in. We did a brainstorming on problems that we could addressed with Synthetic Biology and we came up with the topic of antibiotic resistance. By doing further research we decided to propose an alternative treatment to Clostridium difficile, as it is a highly resistant bacteria commonly present in Costa Rican hospitals. After that, we designed our genetic constructs, started looking for fundings, got in the lab by May and at that point, there was no turning back.
In order to achieve our project’s goal, we distributed different tasks and activities among the team members. We also received support from people outside the team, to which we are extremely grateful. In the followings lines we present the work done by each of people involved in our project.
