COMMUNITY CLASS

Our team has been to “space for new youth development” to organize a short class for children to introduce our team and some interesting points bout fungi and cordyceps, in order to promote biology to them and stimulate them interests in biology.

The children in our class were curious and enthusiastic. Actually, some children know little about fungi, and we can’t instruct them all things about fungi.

At the beginning, we introduced the difference between butterflies and moths, in order to emphasis that cordyceps are from moths but not butterflies. Then, we explained the difference of life story about moth with and without parasitism of cordyceps taishanensis.

And then came to the first activity and we give a puzzle to every child. The aim of this activity was to enhance their comprehension of the difference we had talked about above. We set a timer, and everyone who finished this puzzle could obtain a tin pot.

The next section is about colorful fungi. We showed pictures of common fungi and some fantastic fungi, these stimulated children’s curiosity and opened their horizons.
