Integration

Search engine

After proposing the idea of a database though, we thought of possible issues when the collection of data became too large to acquire ideal data. Hence, we further developed this idea by adding a corresponding search engine. The search engine should receive keywords from the user and display parts with the best matching result from the database. This can greatly reduce the time that users expend for research, allowing more efficient designing processes. Another advantage of this is that users who intend to design fragrance generating circuits but possess only a vague knowledge of different parts may receive inspiration from the giant collection of parts.

Setup

The current search engine is a prototype written using Javascript. It is composed of several major subunits: the input, the processor, the memory and the output and link.

In practice, users type their keywords into the input, and this group of keywords will be carried into the processor for a match test.

Our parts have been pre-organized into several categories such as part length, product type and part type, each with corresponding keywords stored in the memory that can be used by the processor to run a match test with the user’s input. When matches have been successfully found, possible links will be generated on the web page as the output, allowing users to quickly find their target part even if they only have a vague idea of what they are looking for.

Artificial flower

People love flowers for their array of colors, textures, shapes, and fragrances. Since the blooming period of flowers is short, artificial flowers have gradually replaced real flowers in decoration industry. According to the information we studied, although the demand for artificial flowers fluctuated over the past few years, it still remained at a very high value, and the overall trend shows that the amount of artificial flower transaction keeps increasing.

With the rising industry of aromatics production for products in high demand, the fragrance of flowers is relatively transient. Therefore, we considered to use artificial flower as a carrier to visualize our fragrance.

Feedback on artificial flowers

After drawing a simple 2D sketch map, we model it using three-dimensional tool. To test the degree of social impact of our flower, we contacted with SDGo committee, a committee advocate the importance of sustainable development and concrete practice. Nevertheless, the judges think that our project has only made a relatively simple attempt on social impact due to the loose connection between the project and the public.

improvement

To strengthen the connection with the public, we combine the aromatic artificial flower with cell free system (mentioned in education part in human practice), and offer the sensible fragrance generated by cell free system a carrier. By using the simple as well as sensible artificial flower, we empower those primary school students to understand the miracle fragrance generated by our cell free system more easily and give an imprint of cell free system to our youngsters

Feedback on project

Viewing the prototype, Mr. Xuan Wang, a Ph.D candidate in Tsinghua University, suggests that we should not only confined in the stage of benefiting researchers; we could probably produce more extensive benefits--among the public. He mentions a tool called cell free system, which could combine our library with students education. (see the education part in detail)
