Provided us day-to-day support in the lab:
Enlightenment
In March, we conducted seminars and workshops focused on the determination of our project this year. After the communication with Zhaoyu Liu, our fellow former iGEMmer of NEU_China_A and the visit to Deji Hospital, we decided to make a innovation and perfection to their project about the treatment of IBD.
Theoretical study and experimental courses
In April, 2019, Prof. Chen Ding delivered us several separate lectures on synthetic biology for us participating in IGEM 2019 competition. At the same time, we are admitted to the laboratory provided by Prof. Chen Ding, learning some operation of basic instruments and doing elementary experiments which laid the foundation for our next experiment. In May, we officially started working on our project.
General Support
Project support
Wei Du, PhD. student in microbiology and immunology, In addition to providing advice at our weekly lab meetings, he was essential in helping us assess the viability of our initial ideas and later tailoring our final one that became our project.
Xindi Gao, PhD. student in microbiology and immunology, who teached us how to deal with data in a proper way, and so many experimental tips.
Yanjian Li, Chao Li, Chenghao Suo, Shengyi Sun, all of them are PhD. student in Biomedical engineering, they seems have a mysterious ability to troubleshoot all our hurdles in the wet lab: everything from an unsuccessful PCR to a contaminated plate of cells.
Education and Public Engagement:
Human Practices support
Deji Hospital, Director Wang, an expert in internal medicine, allowed us for consulting several questions about the current clinic methods and the difficulties for IBD treatment.
The NEU Rubik’s Cube Association provided us with 200 Rubik’s Cube to build a wall with IGEM pattern.
Dr. Krachler, the Associate Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston gave us several suggestions on our future expectations.
The product research personnel of Shenyang Lorean Biotechnic Company provided us with the knowledge of the public cognition of probiotics.
Collaboration with Liaoning Province Shiyan High School students and Northest Yucai School, who participated in our project “Talent Plan”.
