The wet experiments designed and conducted in this year were accomplished by Jiangyue Zhao, Yirui Xu, Xiaomeng Liu, Yifan Jiang and Miaoyan Li (wet lab team). Zixin Rong, Haohui Fang, Xiaohan Zhang, Shihan Fu and Yuxuan Wu (adviser team) also gave us the technical support and some advise on team management.

Dr. Guoxia Han, our primary PI, gave us practical advice suggestions on scientific research. He also controled the quality of every piece of work we do and try his best to inspire us go ahead. Furthermore, he would also accompany us to the giant jamboree and take care of us in the U.S.

Dr. David Chiu, our primary PI, helped us understand more about synthetic biology and lab safety by offered some classes. He gave us constant advice and knowledge in project determination and data analyses. Moreover, he also examined lots of project logic lines and explanations to us.

Prof. Mu Wang gave us financial support for lab reagents and consumables.

Dr. Ferdinard Kappes designed a time-saving and convincing experiment and provide us some kit about RNA experiment.

Dr. Minyan Wang, director of Centre for Neuroscience jointly founded by Wang Wenli Charitable Foundation and XJTLU, inspired our project and provided us with needed reagents.

Dr. Sekar Raju provided us with urgently needed chloramphenicol.

Dr. Hebin Liu provided the space for us to conduct experiments and other relevant additional assistance.

Mr. Yunpeng Zhong given some advice and some drugs during the experiment.

Dr. Hui Yu gave us advice on concepts and techniques universally applied in characterization of membrane protein on exosome, such as surface plasmon resonance.

`

Prof. Shenglin Huang gave us advice on cultivation of cells that generates exosomes. He also gave us an insight into the design of exosome medicine.

Prof. Bifeng Liu and Prof. Yanlian Yang recommended us to isolate the exosomes in supernatant of cell medium using ultracentrifugation, and told us that the exosome medicine has been verified to significantly inhibit the growth and metastasis of lung carcinoma cells.

Prof. Yue Yang gave us an insight that we may use molecular beacons or RNA probe to detect the mRNA enclosed in exosomes. We may use P3-P5 HEK293T cells for generation of exosomes.

Mr. Zhongkai Huang and Mrs. Sijing Meng supervised us in the lab all along. They spent huge efforts in lab materials preparation which rid much inconvenience of us.

Mr. Ziwen Xie and Ms. Yulan Yi gave us technical support on ultracentrifugation and some molecular experiments such as qPCR.

Miss. Yuwei Han, biology science student and team adviser from 2015 iGEM-XJTLU team, provided advice on protocol optimization.

Mr. Zixin Rong, biology science student and team adviser from 2017 iGEM-XJTLU team. He joined our project design and supervise the experimental operation of us. He also participated in our team building and accompany us all along.

Regulation Model: Yajunzi Wang, Yangyang Su, Xiaomeng Liu

Prof. Dechang Xu, our secondary PI, supported us by listening to all our concerns and encouraging us to find solutions. He also advised us on our modelling strategies and helped us to establish connections with many of our sponsors and collaborators both inside and outside our school.

Hanfu Shi, Bioinformatics student and team adviser from 2018 IGEM-XJTLU team, mentored us through the process of preliminary model design and modeling function building.

Yuwei Han, Biology science student and team adviser from 2015 iGEM-XJTLU team, provided advice on software usage and model design.

Hao Xue, Applied Mathematics student and team advisers, provided advice on coding issues.

Yongming Li, provided advice on model design.

Dr. David Chiu, Associate professor in XJTLU Biology science department, provided specific advice on model building and inspired model design.

Human practice

This year’s Human Practice is mainly designed and conducted by Boya Chen, Jia Wu, Yuhe Su ( the Human Practice Group). The Advisor team: Xiaohan Zhang, Haohui Fang and Zixin Rong, and the former team members Yijing Gong, Zhiyun Gong provided pertinent suggestions to our design. Furthermore, the other team members, including Yajunzi Wang, Xiaomeng Liu, Miaoyan Li, Jiangyue Zhao, and Yangyang Su all provided gracious help to the HP work. Besides, the 4 HP volunteers Xinchen Nie, Jiaxin Xie, Chen Pan and Simiao Wang completed some art work for us.

Dr. Guoxia Han, our primary PI, provided us with strong support in and out of school, ensuring our thoughts can be realized. He also controlled the quality of our work and did his best to motivate us. In addition, he will accompany us throughout the giant jamboree and take care of us in the US.

Dr. David Chiu, our primary PI, also the adviser of our club, gave us a lot of suggestions and help on the club development, promoting our HP work and club activities. Also, as a foreign tutor, gave us valuable opinions on the designing of English propaganda materials.

Prof. Dechang Xu, our secondary PI, offered us sufficient school resources so that our HP events can be carried out efficiently. Additionally, he attended our special event—iDreamer, which is a competition simulating iGEM on-campus, as advisor and provided research certificate for the candidates.

The 2018-2019 management group of iGEM Club: The management group supported XJTLU-CHINA to do science popularization as the topic varies from synthetic biology to microbiology. It contained two forms: online (mainly through Wechat Official Account), and offline (mainly contain workshops and presentations). The Club work greatly improved the influence and popularity of iGEM competition and XJTLU-CHINA. At the same time, help XJTLU students to learn about synthetic biology more.
