COLLABORATIONS

TEAM SAO CARLOS - BRAZIL

Although the iGEM Sao Carlos - Brazil team project is very different from our project, it was the team we collaborated with most. Due to their proximity to each other, since we are teams from the same city and we use some common labs, we had a lot of contact with them.
In addition, to holding some lab meetings to discuss some interesting protocols, we also supported each other by providing a NEB kit loan when the delivery was delayed.
We also did a Human Practices activity focused on Education and Public Engagement. We participated together in the Aerospace Saturday event, organized by the USP Zenith team from Sao Carlos. In this event, we gave a Synthetic Biology Workshop. This occasion was very interesting because we had the opportunity to also present our projects, spreading the word about iGEM and how it is possible to build a better world using Synthetic Biology, either to decontaminate waters or produce food on Mars!

Besides that, on September 7th we participated in a meeting with Latin America's iGEM embassador, Manuel Giménez. The meeting took place in São Carlos and brought together team members from iGEM São Carlos - Brazil, our team and also future iGEMmers from UNESP - Araraquara.

This meeting was a great opportunity to present our project and receive very important feedbacks from Manuel about it. Moreover, Manuel gave us tips about how to improve our project's motivation presentation and how to interact with other iGEM teams in a more productive way.

AMAZONAS-BRAZIL USP-BRAZIL UFRGS_BRAZIL

Four iGEM teams from Brazil (USP_SaoCarlos-Brazil, USP-Brazil, UFRGS_Brazil and Amazonas-Brazil) jointly recorded a Podcast on Synthetic Biology for the “Ciência USP” Podcast.
It was a very interesting experience as each team was able to talk a little about their project, about iGEM and about Synthetic Biology. This podcast was an important form of dissemination for the population about Synthetic Biology, as the recording was released on some streaming platforms and also in the USP Journal.
